On a Miserable Friday...

WE GOT ALL OF THE SHOOTING DONE!!!!

Except for throwing a real banana into a "compost" bin, and having Ted in his costume poking his head out of the said bin.

IT IS ALL SHOT OTHER THAN THAT!!!!

On a Beautiful Saturday...

We met for a group meeting on Saturday, April 3 at 1:00 in the afternoon. We had local "green girl" Rachel Salois (writes for the Going Green! column in the Champlain Current). We got together to talk about our script, our ideas, and who will be in our video. Here is the work that we accomplished:

OBJECTIVE

5-15 second scenes. There will be two people in the scenes, one doing something wrong and the other correcting him. The banana suit will be nonchalantly in each shot. In the end, the banana will be addressed

SCENE 1

Person 1 orders a coffee at Jazzman’s while Person 2 brings in his own mug and gets a discount and does not contribute to waste, even though Jazzman’s coffee cups are made from recycled materials.

SCENE 2

Person one throws away a water bottle into the garbage (60 million are thrown away a day!) while person 2 recycles it.

SCENE 3

Person 1 is considering buying a car for getting around Burlington, while Person 2 uses Carshare for that purpose. CarShare is 5 or 15 dollars a month, 6.95 or 4.95 an hour and 25 cents per mile. We all don’t need new cars just to go to the store!

SCENE 4

Person 1 uses plastic bags at the grocery store while Person 2 uses cloth bags to cut down on oil usage (1.6 billion gallons go into making plastic) as well as unnecessary waste (Americans use 380 billion plastic bags).

SCENE 5

Person 1 sits in the dark so they don’t waste energy while Person 2 explains how Person 1 can profit from using Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (you would save 30 over the life of the bulb, which means that by buying one, you save 30 dollars on your electricity bill) (CFL).

SCENE 6

The banana can be doing something nonchalantly and Person 2 yells at Person 1 “And compost your unwanted, biodegradable food, it follows you everywhere!” Then the banana and Person 1 look at each other and then the gorilla comes out with a bin marked “Compost” and he tosses the banana into it.

ACTORS?

Harry Boltz and Eric Sorenson are two of the prime candidates that we would like to be in our video. We do have others we could ask if need be.

Sincerely,

Concepts to Integrate

CENTRAL CONCEPTS we would like to incorporate.

Biking to campus instead of Driving….Bike Racks

Turning lights off when you’re not there…saving energy

Car Share

Recycling

Low Flow Showerheads…saving water

Composting…what happens to it?

Champlain Current…..uses recycled paper??

Cleaning Supplies

Support local businesses

Refill discounts at Jazzman’s for bringing your own mug

Special parking spots for hybrid cars

Solar Power

We met as a group at 9:45: Amber, Cait, Sean, and Ted were all present at this meeting. We thought of all the different concepts to put into our video, and we found some Sustain Champlain videos that we could reference to emphasize our points. Overall, quite a productive meeting.

Sean and Ted have chosen to be editors
Cait is executive producer/audio genius
Amber is the director/keeping everyone in line
